This is the online owner’s manual for the VVKB Titan series engine block heater (models P1, B1, P3, P4, P5 and P6). It warms your coolant before you start the engine, so oil flows sooner and cold-start wear, noise and smoke drop from the very first turn of the key. Below you’ll find how to choose the right model, install it correctly, bleed the air, and fix the few problems that can come up.

Why pre-heat your engine?
Most engine wear happens in the first few seconds of a cold start, before the oil has been pushed up to the top of the engine. In cold weather the oil thickens and flows slowly; below −4 °F (−20 °C) it barely moves through the narrow oil passages, so those first turns run almost dry.
Warming the coolant to just 104–122 °F (40–50 °C) thins the oil enough to lubricate from the first turn. You do not need full operating temperature — the protection starts the moment the coolant warms up. In the cold you get easier starts, less wear, less smoke and noise, and better fuel economy on short trips. Diesel engines benefit the most.
Choose your model
All models run on 110 V / 230 V and use a 5/8″ (16 mm) port that can be adapted to 3/4″ or 1″. Models P1–P5 have a built-in pump (900 L/h) and dual thermostats. The P6 is different — it has no pump and circulates by natural convection (see below).

Series vs. parallel. P1 and B1 connect in series (inline) on one coolant hose — simple, and right for smaller engines. P3, P4 and P5 include two tee fittings so you can connect them in parallel: on a large engine this heats only the coolant near the block, so it warms up faster than heating the whole loop.
Model P6 — no pump (thermosiphon)
The P6 works differently from the other Titan models. It has no built-in pump: warm coolant rises and circulates by natural convection (thermosiphon). Correct low mounting and continuously sloped hoses are what make it work.
- Mount it low — 8–16 in (20–40 cm) below the highest point of the cooling system, so warm coolant can rise into the engine.
- Slope the hoses continuously — the return hose should rise steadily to the engine and the inlet hose should drop steadily to the heater. Avoid dips or loops that trap air and stop the flow.
- Point the outlet up, arrow toward the engine, and bleed out all the air — with no pump, trapped air stops circulation completely.
- A built-in check valve keeps coolant flowing toward the outlet if air gets into the line.
- The P6 has no pump, so there is no “buzz” at start-up — that is normal. It uses a single thermostat (off at 149 °F/65 °C, on at 113 °F/45 °C).
- The P6 is the only Titan model whose parts are all user-replaceable.
Installation
- Mount the heater at the lowest point of the cooling system, about 8 in (20 cm) below the highest point of the loop.
- Point the outlet upward (or tilted up). The outlet is marked with an arrow — follow the flow direction.
- Keep the heater at least 4–6 in (10–15 cm) away from fuel lines.
- Fill the system and bleed out all the air before running it — trapped air is the number-one cause of install problems.
- Use distilled water or proper coolant — never tap water (minerals scale up the pump).
Bleed the air
With the outlet pointing up, fill from the inlet side until coolant flows out with no bubbles. Loosen a high point in the loop to release any trapped air. Leave the cap off while you bleed, then close up once the bubbles stop.
Never run the heater unless it is connected to a filled cooling loop. Powering it dry — or with air inside — will damage the unit.
Using the heater
Plug in before you start — never leave the engine running with the heater plugged in. Recommended time to plug in before starting:
- Small car / ATV / UTV / snowmobile / small pickup: 30–60 min
- Mid-size car / SUV / ½-ton pickup: 1–2 hours
- Heavy truck (Class 6–8) / large generator set: 2–3 hours
The thermostat holds temperature for you: it switches off at 149 °F (65 °C) and back on at 113 °F (45 °C). Do not leave it plugged in overnight. A soft “buzz” at start-up is normal — that is the pump; it quiets down after a short run-in period.
Body-temperature self-check: just after you switch on, the body should feel only slightly warm. If it feels hot right away, there is trapped air — switch off and bleed again. As the whole system warms up over time, the body warms too — that is normal.
Troubleshooting
Almost every problem traces back to trapped air or a loose or leaking connection. Bleed the air first — it fixes most issues.

Any leak in the cooling system will cause pump failure. Check every clamp and fitting before you run the heater.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to heat the engine to full operating temperature before starting?
No. A coolant rise to just 104–122 °F (40–50 °C) already improves oil flow and cuts most cold-start wear. The 65 °C thermostat is more than enough.
Can I leave it plugged in overnight?
We don’t recommend it. Plug in 30 minutes to 3 hours before starting, depending on vehicle size.
Is it compatible with biodiesel, HVO100, or other fuels?
Yes. This is an electric heater — it warms the coolant and works independently of your fuel type.
Will the heater restrict cooling while I drive?
No. The pump only runs while plugged in. When you drive, the engine’s own pump pushes coolant through it and normal cooling is unaffected.
What coolant should I use?
Distilled water or proper engine coolant — never plain tap water, which scales up the pump.
