Author picture

Camping is a very fun activity as you get to enjoy nature at its fullest. Spending your nights in nature is an entirely different experience, and every camper remembers what it was like to sleep in the forest for the first time.

Vvkb Heater

However, nature is unforgiving, and it is not always possible to camp. When the winter starts approaching, nights get longer and colder, very quickly, shortening your camping season, making winter camping not that pleasant.

In this article we will inform you about the camping heaters, telling you everything you need to know about them. We will cover types, advantages, working principles, but also specifications, installation, parts, and troubleshooting.

After reading this whole piece, you will become a tent heater expert, and cold winter camping nights will never be a problem again. Let’s get started!

Chapter #1: What Is A Camping Heater?

A tent is like a mobile house, and it gives you complete freedom of choice. When you find a place that you like, you build your tent and start camping. When you get bored and want to leave, you remove the tent and go on. No hotel reservations, no expenses, just you and your tent, anywhere.

Here are some common tent types:

Outdoor Tent

Outdoor Tent

Outdoor tents are small in size and can easily fit inside a backpack. That is their biggest benefit, as they are easy to build and carry.

However, these are usually only good for the summer season, or you have to pair them with a sleeping bag. But, even that can’t keep you warm in the colder months, which is why heating equipment is necessary.

Camping Tent

Camping Tent

Camping tents are much heavier and bigger than outdoor tents. The weight comes from much better thermal performance, and a camping tent can keep you warm even on higher altitudes, or during winter months. But, because they are much heavier, they are harder to transport. You should carry it to the camping site in your car, and build the tent there, carrying it around in your backpack is not possible.

Ice Fishing Tent

Ice Fishing Tent

People love ice fishing! When the winter comes in high latitudes, the water surface freezes and fishermen love to drill holes in it and catch fish. There are special tents that are used in these conditions, and their key characteristic is being windproof. However, because of the harsh conditions, a portable tent heater is often necessary.

Military Tent

military tent

Military Tent

Military tents are designed to be rugged and durable, as soldiers are often required to spend nights in harsh environments. High altitudes, cold and humid places are common. Hence, the military requires tents that are capable of protecting soldiers from extreme conditions.

Therefore, a tent heater is an excellent addition to military tents, keeping soldiers warm and healthy no matter how harsh the weather is.

Tents – The Foundation Of Outdoor Activities

Spending nights outdoors would be extremely unpleasant without tents. They are great for keeping the bugs, sand, and rain away, but also for giving you privacy. They also provide a level of insulation, keeping you warm at night. But, although you will feel at home in a quality tent, when the weather gets colder, tents will no longer be pleasant, nor safe to spend nights in.

Therefore, to ensure that even winter camping is comfortable, you will need heating equipment to keep the tent warm. In these conditions, a tent heater is an excellent addition. This device is a safe and effective way and the best choice to keep the tent at a comfortable and safe temperature during the cold winter nights.

There are many types of tent heaters, they can use gas, diesel, and electricity as the primary power source. Later in the article, we will discuss types of tent heaters in more detail.

But now, let me tell you why you need to use a tent heater.

Chapter Two: Why Do I Need To Use A Tent Heater?

The most obvious reason why you should consider using a tent heater is winter camping. Spending time outside in the cold would be completely insane without a tent heater to keep you warm.

Tent

If you like camping and want to do it during the winter, buying a good performance tent heater is one of the best choices you can make when it comes to camping equipment. As I’ve already said, no matter what type of tent you choose to buy, it won’t be able to keep you warm on its own, and in winter, you need to use a tent heater.

Reasons To Buy A Tent Heater Now:

  • Easy to install and use – installation of a tent heater is super easy, and you can do everything yourself. Plus, it is a simple to use device.
  • Thermal efficiency – a quality tent heater will not only keep you warm but will preserve energy, enabling it to work for long hours without worrying about fuel.
  • Long-lasting – although the device seems rather straightforward, a quality tent heater has top quality parts, and will easily last you 8-10 years, making it one of the best camping investments you can make.
  • Safe to use – it is essential to feel safe when you fall asleep next to a running heater. Quality ones have various sensors and control systems to prevent accidents from happening.
  • Environmentally-friendly – good tent heaters produce clean heat and don’t contain contaminants. Their combustion chambers have a unique design that ensures the fuel inside fully burns, so no wastage. Also, the fact that they save energy is green by itself, and better models have reduced emissions.
  • Use it anywhere – tent heaters are portable, which means you can use them elsewhere too. Turn it on in your cabin, RV, or van, or even your boat. With a tent heater, you will never again have to spend an unpleasant, cold night.

Although every tent heater provides similar benefits, not every tent heater is the same, and you need to match the type of tent you have with an appropriate heater.

There are also many types of tent heaters. They have different shapes and different functions. In the next section, we will take a look at different types of camping heaters.

Chapter Three: Types of Camping Heaters

When discussing camping heaters, you should understand the heat transfer principles of these devices. Also, you need to know the type of energy consumed by the camping heater.

There are three main types of camping heaters on the market:

A) Gas Tent Heater

Gas tent heaters can be divided into propane tent heaters and butane tent heaters. The best-known gas tent heater is Mr. Heater Portable Buddy.

Mr. Heater Portable Buddy

Gas heaters provide heat to the tent by burning gas. They are usually only suitable for small spaces.

Its working principle is that ignited propane or butane is burned in a combustion chamber made of ceramics, and the heat is transferred to a small area in front of the heater through radiation. That’s the main problem as you will only feel the warmth in a small area in front of the heater.

However, a more significant issue is the fact that the gas heater burns fuel inside the tent, which consumes the oxygen, but also produces carbon dioxide. So, if you want to use it, you better make sure there is an opening in the tent that will let the air circulate. But, that will also mean that the cold air from the outside will get inside too, reducing the effectiveness of the heater.

Also, because gas tent heaters produce open flames, you need to be extra cautious when it comes to safety. Better models like Mr. Heater Portable Buddy have a built-in oxygen depletion sensor and an automatic flip-off switch, but you still need to be careful when using them.

Although things won’t go wrong all the time, accidents do happen.

You can read about them more in this tent fire report from Russia, from July 23, 2019.

Although the specific cause of the fire is not yet known, safety should always be our top concern.

B) Portable Diesel Heater

Vvkb Portable Heater

Vvkb Portable Heater

Vvkb Portable Heater Show

As the name suggests, a portable diesel heater uses diesel as fuel. Diesel heaters are very flexible, and beside tents, you can use them in RVs, trucks, cabins, and boats. Another benefit is that you can freely move them around these places.

Portable diesel heaters have many benefits, including safety, high heating capacity, wide application range, and no installation. Unlike gas heaters, the diesel heaters will keep the whole tent warm, and not just a small area in front of the device.

Diesel heaters work by burning the diesel fuel inside a special combustion chamber, which is wrapped by an aluminum radiator. The heat from the chamber is absorbed by the radiator, and emitted outside, heating the tent.

Diesel heaters have a motor impeller that draws the cold air from inside the tent. This air flows around the radiator that absorbs the heat generated by the combustion. The air is heated by the heat sink and sent back to the tent by the motor.

Another benefit of this type of heater is that exhaust gases from the combustion process are discharged from the heater through the exhaust pipe, which means you aren’t at risk. Portable diesel heaters go through rigorous testing, which makes sure that burning exhaust gases never enter the tent with the hot air, so no need to worry about that.

Exhaust pipe

Exhaust pipe

Every portable heater has a built-in fuel tank, which gives you a lot of independence. A heater will be able to work under full load for more than 12 hours straight, getting you through the entire night on a single refuel.

Built-in fuel tank

Built-in fuel tank

Generally, the power of a portable heater is divided into 2.5KW and 5KW

The output heat is between 8500BTU-16000BUT. There are differences in the heat output, but generally, diesel consumption won’t exceed 2.5-4.3 liters in 12 hours of operating under full load. In other words, portable diesel heaters are very economical.

But, on the market, you can also see diesel heaters marked as 8KW. When you take a closer look, you will see they are not different in size from the ordinary 5KW heaters. However, these heaters are questionable. A heater that is no bigger than a regular 5KW heater, and has the same fuel consumption, but is able to produce 8KW and 25600BTU of heat. That makes no sense and does not conform to the principles of physics.

I hope you don’t get fooled.

For your convenience, the portable heater is also compatible with various voltages. You can use a 12V battery to power the heater, or you can use 110V or 230V to power the heater. You can switch between these voltages easily. You don’t need to worry about the heater over-consuming your battery. When working at full load, the current intensity of the portable heater is 1.7 amps-2.1 amps.

If your tent is small, you can choose a heater with a lower heating capacity. If your tent is large, or you use a large military tent, you may consider selecting a heater with a larger heating capacity. This kind of flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of portable diesel heaters

C) Electric tent heater

Electric tent heaters run on electric power, which makes them very convenient when compared to diesel and gas heaters. You don’t need to carry fuel with you, and there is no combustion, so no exhaust fumes.

Although you don’t have to carry fuel, you do need to make sure you have enough power for the electric heater to function.

When you find yourself camping in the wild, finding electric power is easier said than done. That means that a tent heater will provide you much less independence than heaters that use diesel or gas fuel.

Choose Your Own Carefully

As you can see, three main types of camping heaters all have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, please consider your needs, and the type of tent you have, or camping conditions you most often experience, and then decide which type of heater will serve you the best.

In the next section, we will focus on portable heaters, breaking down each component so you can learn more about them. Stay tuned.

Chapter Four: Basic Components of Portable Heaters

Vvkb Camping heater

Vvkb Camping heater

The portable heater is assembled from many sophisticated parts.

The number of parts will vary greatly depending on the design and model of the heater and the price, but most of them have the same core.

1. Electronic Control Unit

The electronic control unit in the portable tent heater is the heater’s brain, and here all the command processing of the heater takes place. You control the whole system through the control system control panel.

The instruction manual will tell you more about the commands you can enter, but the heater is very simple to use, and it is not hard to configure it to work normally.

Electronic Control Unit

Electronic Control Unit

No matter what kind of tent heater you choose, they all have a control system that is the center of the operation.

Some models also have a remote control system that gives you even more convenience, allowing you to start/stop the heater without leaving the comfort of your sleeping bag.

2,Combustion Blower Motor

Combustion Blower Motor

Combustion Blower Motor

The motor is a crucial part of the portable heater. An evenly working motor will greatly reduce the working noise of the heater.

Also, a finely-crafter motor impeller will completely burn diesel in the combustion chamber, with no residue.

A high-quality tent heater with a good motor won’t cause any negative impact on the outside environment.

3. Built-in Fuel Tank

Built-in fuel tank

Built-in Fuel Tank

There are various types of portable heaters on the market, most of which requiring an external fuel tank, which is inconvenient.

But, there are models that have a built-in fuel tank, allowing you to use the heating device conveniently.

If you can, always choose a heater with an integrated reservoir.

4. Fuel Pump

Fuel Pump

Fuel Pump

The fuel pump extracts the fuel from the tank, supplying it to the portable heater. This is an integral part as it ensures that enough fuel is available inside the combustion chamber.

Fuel Pump

Most portable heater manufacturers pre-install the fuel pump in the factory, shipping the heater with it. It is securely fixed on the bottom of the heater. To reduce the working noise of the fuel pump, it is usually installed on a rubber bracket, which cushions the fuel pump.

To extract fuel from an external or internal fuel tank, supply it to a portable heater.

5. Glow Plug

Glow plug

Glow plug

Most portable heaters use diesel fuel for combustion. The trouble is that diesel has a relatively high ignition point, which can be problematic in the cold winter conditions.

Therefore, a quality portable heater needs a reliable ignition device that can generate the required high temperatures to start the portable heater, and that is a glow plug. A quality glow plug can easily ignite the diesel fuel.

The problem is that low-quality heater manufacturers tend to use cheaper glow plugs that are not capable of igniting the fuel when temperatures are very low.

Glow Pin

But, quality heaters have Japanese Kyocera glow plugs, which are the best one you can buy, with great reliability, capable of igniting the diesel even when the temperatures are extremely low.

Unfortunately, cheap manufacturers know this, and they claim how they have Kyocera glow plugs inside.

But, because these plugs are expensive, you can’t expect the cheapest heaters to have them inside, no matter what they claim, so be cautious when purchasing, it is easy to get tricked.

6. Combustion Chamber

A combustion chamber is a place where the fuel gets turned into heat, and therefore, it is a very important part of the device. The quality of the combustion chamber will determine the longevity of the device.

Combustion chamber

Combustion Chamber

When diesel burns, the flame temperature will get as high as 1300-1400 degrees Celsius, which is about 2372-2552 degrees Fahrenheit.

These extremely high temperatures can deform ordinary materials, even metal. If that happens, and the combustion chamber gets deformed, the combustion process happening inside will get affected too.

This will cause incomplete diesel combustion, producing carbon deposits, shortening the lifespan of the diesel heater, causing malfunctions.

But, better quality portable heater manufacturers will choose 2520 stainless steel as the material for the combustion chamber. This type of steel won’t deform under high temperatures, and the heater will operate without issues for a very long time.

7. Power Transformer

Most portable heaters have a power transformer inside. This device adapts the heater to be able to switch between 12V, 110V, and 230V. Also, there will be two wires connected to the power supply.

American Standard Plug

American Standard Plug

One will connect 12V, connecting directly to the battery. The red wire is connected to the battery positive, while black is connected to the battery negative. Doing it inappropriately will cause the heater control system to burn out, so make sure to pay attention!

Australian standard plug

Australian standard plug

The other wire is connected to 110V and 230V. This will allow you to conveniently connect your heater directly to a power supply, so there’s no need to connect to a battery if an electric socket is available.

European standard plug

European standard plug

The cable usually has a plug style suitable for your market. For example, if you live in the USA, you will have a plug style that is common in North America.

If you buy your heater in the EU, you can expect it to have a European standard plug. The same goes for Australia, you will find Australian plugs there. So no need to worry about plug compatibility, only choose the right size, and the supplier will match the type of plug you need.

12V power cable

12V Power Cable

Portable heaters have very strict requirements on the quality of power transformers. For your safety, a power transformer must be able to withstand a current strength of more than 12 amps.

This will ensure that the power of the heater will not breakdown the transformer due to the instantaneous current spike in the moment of ignition. This type of transformer will improve the longevity of the portable tent heater.

8. Combustion Gas Exhaust System

The portable heater burns diesel in order to heat up the tent, which releases many toxic substances. Therefore, it is imperative to burn the diesel fully and to remove the fumes away from the tent via the exhaust system.

Exhaust pipe

Exhaust Pipe

Usually, the combustion exhaust emission system consists of two exhaust pipes, one short and one long. And, between the two pipes, you can choose to install an exhaust muffler that comes with the heater. This type of system can significantly reduce the noise produced by the heater.

To reduce the noise further, better quality portable heaters have spiral stainless steel exhaust pipes. In order to tightly fix the exhaust pipe to the exhaust port of the heater, manufacturers install heavy-duty stainless steel clips that have strong clamping force, firmly fixing the pipe in the right position, so no gases leak to the inside of the tent.

The same kind of clamps is used to connect the pipe to the exhaust muffler, and you can see why this small part is so important.

Exhaust muffler

Exhaust muffler

The quality of the exhaustion system will tell a lot about the portable heater manufacturer. Only companies that are concerned about the safety of their customers install the best kinds of parts, making their heaters reliable. Pay attention to these small parts when choosing a portable tent heater. As you can see, they are much more important than it first seems.

9. Temperature Control System

If you keep the portable heater working for too long, there is a small chance that the temperature inside the tent becomes too high. To prevent this from happening, tent heaters have an additional temperature sensor, connected to the heater with wires.

You can put the temperature sensor inside the tent, at the desired location. You can set the desired temperature through the control panel. When the heater reaches the desired temperature, it will reduce the heating intensity, always keeping the tent at an optimal temperature, preserving energy and fuel.

10. Air Circulation System In The Tent

Hot air ducting

Hot air ducting

The portable tent heater keeps the inside of the tent warm with two hot air pipes.

The manufacturer will prepare two air outlet grills for you, which you can install above the tent. You can connect the hot air ducts behind the grille.

11. Air Outlet Grille

Air Outlet

Air Outlet

Better quality portable heater manufacturers will take the shape of the air outlet grille into consideration.

They will choose the one with better clamping force, providing you with a reliable quality air outlet grille. You can easily install the air outlet grille on the tent yourself.

12. The Shell

Vvkb Portable Diesel Heater

Vvkb Portable Diesel Heater

Due to the harsh winter conditions, the heater shell needs to be made of iron, with anti-corrosive properties. But, to make the heater more appealing, most manufacturers will spray the shell of the portable tent heater, adding an additional layer of protection.

Not Every Heater Is The Same

Accessory parts of portable tent heaters differ from model to model. But, the core remains the same, which is why it is vital to fully understand how the heater functions before buying.

Once you understand the parts and the structure of the portable heater, you will know how it works, and how you should choose the model that meets your needs.

Also, this knowledge will help you troubleshoot problems and fix the heater yourself in case of camping emergencies.

The next chapter will be all about that, and we will discuss the functions, installation, and troubleshooting of portable tent heaters.

Chapter Five: The Working Principles Of Portable Tent Heaters

connected to van

Connected to Van

Heaters are sophisticated, but an ordinary user like you doesn’t need to understand everything. After all, this is just a heater, and you are not a professional technician.

But, getting to know the device a bit deeper will help you differentiate between tent heaters, helping you make the right purchasing decision. After all, your portable heater will turn your tent into a home even during the cold winter months, making it a very important device that makes camping in the wild much more enjoyable, so read the remaining of the article carefully.

Understanding the working principles of portable tent heaters and their working conditions will help you troubleshoot problems at any time. If you know how to fix the heater, no camping situation will be unpredictable, and nothing will spoil your good mood.

Let’s start by explaining the working method of portable tent heaters, helping you understand how these devices keep your tent warm no matter how harsh the outside weather is.

How Does The Portable Heater Work?

Tent Heater

Turning The Heater On

After you have properly installed the portable tent heater, connected it to the tent, and poured in the diesel fuel into the tent, you press the on button.

When you do that, the control system will first check all the sensors in the heater, inspecting to make sure everything is in proper condition. When that happens, the control system will turn on the motor to high speed, the heater will enter the ventilation mode, and the air in the tent will be circulated.

Simultaneously, the blower will send the air inside the combustion chamber, blowing out any carbon deposits that might be left there.

Next, you need to turn the heating mode on, by selecting the option on the control panel, which will ignite the ignition plug. At the same time, the fuel pump will deliver the diesel fuel to the net next to the combustion chamber. The diesel fuel will spread on the combustion net.

At this time, the periphery of the combustion net has already been heated to a very high temperature by the ignition plug. Then, the combustion fan sends the combustion air around the combustion net.

The air forms a combustible gas mixture around the combustion net, and the diesel steam diffused from the combustion net. Tho combustible gas gets ignited by the glow plug inside the structure of the combustion chamber, which begins the burn process.

When the ignition plug is ignited, the flame sensor on the portable tent heater detects that the heater is successfully ignited. Then, the control system will turn off the ignition plug.

The oil pump will continue working, delivering a steady supply of diesel fuel for the heater. Also, the combustion supporting blower continually delivers an appropriate proportion of oxygen to the heater combustion chamber, making sure the diesel burns completely.

Turning The Heater Off

Above, we described the workflow of portable tent heaters, telling you what happens when you press the “on” button. But, we will no explain the shutdown process that follows pressing the “off” switch.

Once you click the shutdown button on the control panel, the control system detects the command and tells the ignition plug to start working again and let the fuel pump to stop working. But, the combustion air blower continues to work, making sure there is no fuel left inside the combustion chamber, which would cause issues when you start the heater again.

The ignition plug works to burn the remaining fuel completely, and when there is none left, the combustion flame inside the chamber will be extinguished. Once that happens, the flame sensor will detect it, and the control system will signal the ignition plug to stop working.

Next, the control system will turn the air blower to high speed to blow away a small amount of carbon deposits out of the combustion chamber, which will prepare the heater for the next start.

A Small, But Sophisticated Device

Seeing this, you have fully understood the whole working process of the heater. It is a much more complicated device than it first seems. The description from above will help you to use the portable tent heater in the future.

It is important to note that the same process happens whether you control the heater manually, or set the start time and turn off time of the portable tent heater.

Chapter Six: Troubleshooting and Maintenance of Portable Tent Heaters

First of all, I want to tell you that most of the portable tent heaters produced by reputable companies will have a very long lifespan, with no failure.

Based on my 24 years of experience, most of the failures of portable tent heaters are caused by improper installation or people’s operation errors. Fortunately, most modern heaters have integrated fuel tanks, oil pumps, and electrical systems, reducing the room for installation error. Nowadays, they rarely malfunction.

An adequately designed portable tent heater is made to be as close to impeccable as possible. This indispensable piece of camping equipment will hardly ever fail you.

But, there will always be cases where people experience issues and malfunctions do happen on rare occasions due to various reasons, which is why it is a good idea to be ready.

Many people find themselves lost when they encounter problems with portable tent heaters, which can be a massive challenge for those who don’t know the technology.

Portable tent heaters are similar to your car, as you need to maintain them regularly. But, if you do, you can count on them to work without issues for many years.

One common mistake is that people think they don’t need regular maintenance because they rarely use their tent heaters, which is a mistake. Yes, even if you are not using the heater, you still need to perform regular maintenance, so it is ready once you need it.

Most portable tent heaters are incredibly long-lasting, and with proper maintenance, you can expect to use them 8-10 years. But, their service life and operating efficiency depend on your maintenance.

So, How To Perform Regular Maintenance?

Regular tent heater maintenance is straightforward:

Each time you use a portable tent heater, you must turn it off according to the prescribed procedures.

We have already talked about the working principle of the portable tent heater in Chapter 5, so make sure you reread it. Also, follow the instruction manual.

Why do you need to shut down in accordance with the prescribed procedures? This is to completely burn all the residual diesel in the heater combustion chamber and clean the combustion chamber.

No excess fuel residue and carbon deposits will allow you to easily activate the portable tent heater every time.

Even if you do not use the portable tent heater for a long time, you need to start the heater every 30 days or so. Each start takes about 30 minutes.

Tent Heater Issues And How To Solve Them

Fault 1

Problem: After the power is turned on, the heater is turned on, and the heater does not respond.

Cause: When connecting the 12V power supply, the positive and negative poles are connected incorrectly.

Solution: Change the power connection. The red wire connects to the battery’s positive pole, and the black wire connects to the battery’s negative pole.

Check the fuse on the red wire, if it is damaged, please replace it.

The most likely cause is a motherboard burnout.

So, you need to be very careful.

Failure 2

Problem: When the portable tent heater was started, a large amount of white smoke starts pouring from the exhaust pipe.

Cause: After the last use, the heater was not turned off according to the prescribed procedures, and excessive fuel remained in the combustion chamber.

Solution: Unplug the oil pipe connecting the oil pump to the heater and start the heater according to the normal start-up procedure. The ignition plug will completely burn the excess diesel. After about 10 minutes, turn off the heater according to the prescribed process.

After connecting the tubing back, the heater can normally work according to the normal start-up procedure.

Fault 3

Problem: The heater starts working for a short period of time, white smoke comes out, and there is noise.

Cause: The road might be bumpy, causing the motor to shift and the impeller to hit the casing. The motor bears additional resistance.

As a result, the oxygen entering the combustion chamber is reduced, and the diesel cannot be completely burned.

Solution: Access the heater from the air inlet by hand, adjust the position of the impeller, and rotate the impeller to ensure that the impeller does not touch the casing.

Restart the heater, according to Chapter 5. Burn residual fuel.

Fault 4

Problem: E08 fault code appears after the power cord is connected to the power supply and the heater is turned on.

Cause: This is because the battery power is too low, causing the heater to not start properly.

It is also possible that your battery is too small, the usual battery needs 50-60AH.

Or, the battery may be aging.

Solution: Replace with a new battery. The heater will work normally.

Fault 5

Problem: After turning on the heater, E07 fault code appears

Cause: The battery power is too high, you might be using an 18V battery or a 24V battery

Solution: replace it with a new 12V battery

Fault 6

Problem: White smoke is emitted from the exhaust. There may also be fuel flowing from the exhaust port.

Cause: The intake port of combustion air is blocked.

Solution: Check the combustion air intake and clean up the blockage.

Chapter Seven: Things You Should Consider When Buying A Portable Tent Heater

Looks Matter Too

Vvkb Potable Diesel Heater

If you are buying a portable tent heater for the first time, you need to consider the following important factors: the output heat, fuel consumption, tent size, safety, and usage scenarios. You should also consider how the tent heater looks.

Although the look doesn’t seem that important, paying attention to detail will tell you a lot about portable tent heater manufacturer.

No manufacturer will only focus on appearance, neglecting the product quality. But, if a tent heater looks rough, that might be indicative of the quality of the parts inside.

Any company with a good reputation will make sure their products are pleasant to the eye, and that the quality of the exterior matches the quality of the parts “underneath the hood.”

How Choose My Tent Heater?

Vvkb Tent Heater

Heat output:

Heat output is one of the essential factors in choosing a tent heater.

If you have an ordinary outdoor tent, you only need to choose a 2.5KW portable tent heater, which can generate 8500BUT of heat per hour.

This heat is enough to heat an ordinary outdoor tent.

If your tent is a bigger camping tent that can accommodate 3-5 people, you need to consider the scope of your activities.

If you are in an active area, the minimum temperature in winter is usually higher than -5 degrees Celsius (23 degrees Fahrenheit).

You can still consider choosing a 2.5KW portable tent heater. 8500BTU of heat per hour is enough to heat the camping tent.

Of course, if you are in a very cold area, such as Minnesota, Alaska, northern Sweden, Iceland, Canada, and Finland, then you need to choose a 5KW portable tent heater.

16000BTU of heat per hour will allow you to enjoy the warmth of your home inside your tent even during the harsh winter months.

If you are heating the ice fishing tent, because the surrounding environment is very cold, you need to choose a 5KW portable tent heater.

If you have an army tent, the size of it is very large.

Your only option is a 5KW portable military tent heater. But, 16000BTU of heat, is not enough for a large military tent.

You may need to use multiple army tent heaters and provide heat to the tent from different angles.

But on the upside, military tents have better thermal insulation than regular tents. The heat generated will be more difficult to dissipate outside the tent, which will make the heating more efficient.

Diesel Heater Impossible Trinity

Diesel Heater Impossible Trinity

Fuel consumption:

Focusing on fuel consumption will let you distinguish portable tent heaters of different companies.

The fuel consumption of heaters provided by manufacturers of quality portable tent heaters is very low. The fuel consumption of 12 hours usually does not exceed 2.5L-4.3L.

However, many manufacturers will exaggerate their products arbitrarily, and claim how fuel consumption is extremely low.

At this time, you need to apply some chemical knowledge. With such low fuel consumption, if the fuel is completely burned, and the chemical energy converted to heat energy, how much heat energy can be generated?

Is enough to provide me with appropriate heat? The answer is usually no, so don’t fall for those cheap sales tactics.

Quality and safety compliance:

Heating equipment is a kind of equipment that converts electrical energy or chemical energy into heat energy. No matter what type of heating equipment we choose, we must always put safety first.

All manufacturers of tent heaters should put top priority on safety and make products that meet industry standards.

No one will want to buy a heater that will bring endless risks (i.e., a fire hazard to tents and other equipment).

Therefore, when buying tent heaters, always look for heaters made by trusted companies that can meet CE, RoHS, FCC TUV standards.

In the process of using the tent heater, you may encounter some problems for various reasons. You also need the sales company to provide you with answers and services in a timely manner.

There are various types of tent heaters in production, and their prices vary greatly.

Of course, their quality difference is also very huge.

We recommend that you should choose the best tent heater in the price range you can afford.

All of our heaters are designed and manufactured to meet the highest industry standards for safety and reliability. We monitor every aspect of heat production and perform the necessary quality inspections on all semi-finished products. In all production processes, the highest quality standards are fully followed.

Renowned Suppliers And Best Parts

Also, we choose our supplier carefully, ensuring each part meets our strictest requirements, no matter how small. We look for potential suppliers for each accessory, and if there’s a problem with the current supplier, we can replace them at any time. That ensures we can provide product guarantees to customers in a timely manner.

For example, in order to allow the heater to work correctly at low temperatures, we have used the glow plugs from Kyocera Japan.

To extend the working life of the tent heater, considering the harsh environment when the tent heater works, we specially handle the fuel pump casing. The oil pump will not corrode.

We know that you need to rest in a quiet environment.

Therefore, we have designed a reliable spiral exhaust pipe and equipped it with an asbestos-free exhaust muffler, so that you can enjoy the warmth in a quiet environment, without any health risks.

For your convenience, we also installed a built-in fuel tank for the tent heater. When you fill the fuel tank with fuel, you can sleep for a night without worrying that the heater will stop working due to a lack of fuel.

But, we don’t stop there, as we put your health first. We choose reliable, non-toxic plastic to make heater accessories. When you unpack the heater, you will not smell a pungent odor. That indicates that we use the highest quality materials and not recycled plastic.

You can enjoy your camping in a warm environment provided by VVKB portable tent heaters.

Reasonable And Flexible Pricing

Considering everything mentioned above, the price of VVKB tent heaters is very reasonable. In this price range, you will hardly find any suppliers that make tent heaters that are safer and more efficient.
