Fuel heaters are used to heat diesel fuel systems. Diesel engines need a constant supply of hot fuel in order to operate at their peak performance. Fuel heaters are designed to provide a constant supply of hot fuel, and they can be used on any type of truck.
When it’s cold temperatures, your diesel fuel might not flow properly. This can lead to a lack of functioning vehicle engine or even waxing which may create other issues.
In places where the temperature is not particularly low, diesel fuel in winter will not show the phenomenon of hanging wax.
However, diesel engines can’t start from cold diesel fuel, and the temperature of the fuel when it enters the combustion chamber is too low. This causes diesel to be less completely spread across the air and results in more harmful exhaust emissions.
Fuel heaters are usually installed in the fuel delivery system of vehicles, such as truck and diesel generator sets. They allow the temperature of the diesel fuel flowing into the engine to rise by heating the diesel fuel tank, the diesel fuel filter, the diesel oil and water separator, and the fuel delivery line.
They usually have a thermostat that is set to maintain the ideal temperature of the diesel engine. The best fuel heaters will be able to maintain a temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius) at all times, which is necessary for most diesel engines.
Using a fuel heater increases fuel flow, increases diesel engine power output, and reduces diesel engine exhaust pollutant emissions. This is a very worthwhile investment.

Fuel heaters include: fuel filter heaters, ducted diesel fuel heaters, diesel fuel tank heaters, oil and water separators with heating function, fuel heater disk, and other heaters. They are suitable for all diesel fuel-based engine systems.
The following are some of the applications of fuel heaters.
Diesel fuel delivery system is a system. In different locations of this system, different heaters are used. Depending on each important point, fuel heaters can usually be divided into the following 5 types.
It may be that your requirements for fuel heating system are different from standard heaters and you need to customize your own fuel heater. Please let us know your requirements and our experienced engineers will assist you with the production of your sample.
When the temperature is too low, we need to heat the diesel fuel tank. There are three ways to heat the diesel fuel tank, usually.
Silicone heating pad — A kind of silicone sheet with a heating function, which is attached to the outside of the tank and heats the shell of the diesel fuel tank, so that the whole fuel of the tank is in heating condition. It has the advantage that it is easy to install. The disadvantage is that it is expensive and requires 110V or 230V voltage. It is not convenient to use electricity.
Fuel tank heater — The fuel tank heater is installed inside the fuel tank and heats the diesel fuel directly by making direct contact with the diesel fuel and using the heat from the heating element. There are two kinds of fuel tank heaters, one is the heater installed in the head of the fuel tank pickup tube, our model is Zeus-F3. It uses PTC as the heating element, which is very safe. After the diesel fuel at the head of the fuel tank is heated, it is directly sucked away by the diesel fuel pump.
The other type is a heater installed inside the fuel tank and heated by electric wire. Our model is: Zues-F5, the power of this heater is only 75W, which is also very safe. These two types of tank heaters work on the same principle.
The fuel filter is designed to filter the fine impurities in the diesel fuel. When the diesel fuel flows through the fuel filter, the impurities will be filtered by the filter paper of the filter, while part of the water valve will also be absorbed by the filter paper. When the temperature drops below the freezing point, the filter paper containing water will freeze, and the whole filter paper will form a barrier to prevent the diesel fuel from passing through the fuel filter.
The fuel filter heater is set on the outside of the fuel filter, and by heating the fuel filter housing, the temperature of the whole fuel filter rises to melt the frozen filter paper and let the diesel fuel flow through the filter easily. The fuel filter heater is selected according to the size of different filters and the right size filter. It is very easy to install and has a wide range of compatibility.
This kind of heater is installed between the fuel filter base and the cap, and between the oil-water separator base and the cap, and the cold diesel fuel flows through the fuel heater disk while being heated.
Fuel heater disk is also in direct contact with diesel fuel and uses two materials, PTC and electric heater, which are very reliable in safety.
The size of the fuel heater disk is strictly required, and the diameter of the filter and the diameter of the heater need to be exactly the same.
Fuel heater disk has two application scenarios.
The main function of the oil-water separator is to let the water contained in the diesel fuel, through the sedimentation and filtration method, settle at the bottom of the oil-water separator.
When the temperature drops below the freezing point, the liquid water inside the oil-water separator will freeze and will make the oil-water separator fail.
Your customer can replace the entire oil/water separator and have the oil/water separator with heating. Or, put a filter heater over the outside of the oil/water separator.
Or, you are a diesel vehicle and diesel generator set manufacturer, you can just use the oil and water separator with heating function, and your equipment will be higher added value.
Some diesel engines with long delivery lines and low outside temperature have a long distance before the fuel reaches the injector nozzle after using the tank heater and filter heater.
This is a heater attached to the delivery line, which heats diesel fuel by PTC. The ducted diesel heater can also heat biodiesel.
Here is a table we have prepared for you, the table is to do a comparison of the data of these types of heaters.

When the outside temperature falls below 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit), the flow of diesel fuel changes and the flow of diesel fuel does not flow particularly smoothly. Providing heating for diesel fuel is a must.
The ignition mode of a diesel engine is compression ignition. When the piston runs to the top of the cylinder, diesel fuel is injected into the cylinder at high pressure by the injector nozzle. If the diesel fuel temperature is high, the diesel fuel injected into the cylinder, will be atomized into very small particles and can be fully burned.
When the outside temperature is too low, the diesel fuel sprayed into the combustion chamber through the nozzle, its temperature will also be too low, which will lead to the diesel fuel sprayed into the cylinder can not be fully atomized, can not be fully atomized diesel fuel, will be in the combustion process, the engine exhaust will appear black smoke.
Unlike gasoline, diesel fuel will contain some water, so the fuel system in the diesel engine, there will be oil and water separator this accessory. In addition to the oil-water separator, the fuel system also has diesel fuel filters. Their core component is the filter paper, which will absorb water.
At normal temperature, the water is absorbed by the filter paper, and the diesel fuel can still pass through the oil-water separator and fuel filter. When the temperature reaches 0 degrees Celsius (32 degrees Fahrenheit), the water will freeze and the freezing will cause the oil-water separator and fuel filter to fail. Therefore, it is necessary to use oil-water separator with heating function and to heat the fuel filter.
